There are different types of LTVP, go to link where you can see a list of LTVP. For graduates you will be able to apply for visitors who are students of institute of higher learning seeking employment in Singapore. You will come through a list of schools that gives their graduates eligibility to submit for LTVP, also a list of needed documents for the application submission.
NOTE: below is my experience applying for LTVP including the process, preparation, and tips I can give you during this process (and yes, I did succeed in getting my LTVP). Each person's case will most likely differ from one another, but I would believe the overall process will be similar.
STEP 1. Before you start submitting your application, check and do these first:
- Make sure you have returned your Student Pass (click here to see how). This is a requirement for you to start submitting your application online through e-VP.
- Make sure you have received your original highest educational certificate. If you are still awaiting for graduation or for your certificate to come out, you can appeal to your university for a letter of confirmation as a substitute (I never tried this though) prove that you are a graduating student of the university. But I do suggest for you to just wait until you get your certificate then apply to avoid any complications.
- Have a local sponsor ready. You will later on see in the application form a column for a local Singaporean sponsor to fill in on your behave. It could be a friend, or family member (make sure to have evidence of your familial relationship, just in case they ask for it) who is a Singaporean or PR, AND has a Singpass account (click here to see about Singpass). Be aware that your sponsor might be asked to accompany you to ICA (only if required by ICA).
- Check for requirements on a Medical Check Up so you can decide beforehand if you need to get one done before applying for LTVP. If you have done a Medical Check up before and have submitted it (within the one year, as I did, for applying Student Pass. I did mine at Raffles Medical Hospital) then then may not require you to submit one again.
- Lastly, this is just a heads up. Have passport size photos ready (soft copy and hard copy). It must be a taken recently (within the last 3 months). For photo requirements click here.
STEP 2. Once you got all of that cleared and sorted out, you are ready to start applying.
- Go to this link and carefully prepare all the documents, make sure you have all in hand. Also a kind suggestion is to scan or photocopy these documents include you Disembarkation Paper, extra copies of your Passport, certificates and your photo. I've found that in my case they will ask for extra documents (one not written on the website or in the letter of confirmation), so best to be prepared.
- REMEMBER, you will first apply online through e-VP. Click new application and follow the instructions carefully (WARNING do not use the your browser's back button or make sure you have good internet connectivity while doing this).
- In this process you will need to fill in all required information (basically the same as the FORM 14* and also (optional) uploading your photo, and other needed information. Make sure you check before finishing and submmiting.
- Upon completion of your submission through e-VP, you will get an email confirmation of your submission. If all is well, a day or two after, you will receive an email update that your application will be considered and that you need to come down in person to ICA, bringing along all needed documents (or your application will be considered withdrawn).
- here) use your Travel Document no. (Passport no.) and FIN (your previous pass number). NOTE your FIN will not change, even as you change your pass from Student Pass to LTVP. Check check application status, they would've have given you a date and time you need to come down to ICA (this will not be mentioned in the email). REMEMBER! Login to e-VP (click
- This is your e-Appointment. An e-appointment is where you will choose a time to go down yourself to ICA and give them all the required documents. Choose then option "Applying for Long Term Visit Pass." and choose a date and time that works for you. My tip is to never go a Friday or Saturday, NEVER (It is super crowded), and it is better to choose a morning time. The process of going down there and waiting will take you almost all morning (2.5 - 4 hours). If you go early, you can hopefully finish before 2 pm.
STEP 3. Going down to ICA
ICA BUILDING ADDRESS
10 Kallang Rd, 208718
Go to LEVEL 4
- Make sure to bring all required documents (a must) and my suggestion a pen and a form of entertainment (a book, kindle, or tablet), so you won't get bored while waiting.
- DO NOT BE LATE. The first thing you do once you get there. You can first try to scan your letter of confirmation for an e-appointment at the self service kiosk to get your queue number. In my experience, however, this has never worked for me. So the next step to take is get into the queue to the Visitor Service Center (they usually already have a long queue) and the officer there will give you a queue number. BE WARNED, if you do not have all the required documents, you will most likely not be given a queue number.
- In my experience, they will never call up your queue number in order or on time. For instance if you have a 9 am appointment, your number will probably be called at around 10.30 am or 11 am (depending on the number of people left in the queue). So you are there on time to get an earlier number, I suppose, and get ahead of the crowd of people, plus get a seat to wait in.
- The next step of the process is pretty straightforward. Your number gets called, you go to the counter and you give the officer all your required documents. If everything checks out. You will be done in about 15 minutes.
- Then you can go back home and wait.
